If you think of the Lake District as simply a range of rolling hills and lakes, then you've never been to Great Langdale. It is the gateway to such towering peaks as Scafell Pike, Bowfell and White Ghyll, which provide for both a dramatic landscape and a wide range of challenges.

By car
From Ambleside, follow the A593 road. At Skelwith Bridge, Turn right onto the B5343. The campsite is approximately 6 miles down this road on the left just before you reach the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.

 

Local Area

The Lakes are famous for friendly pubs offering good food and even better beer, and Great Langdale is no exception, having no less than three inns within a short stroll.

Ambleside is also just a few minutes away by car, offering a good range of pubs and restaurants as well as a small cinema and museum, while just a little further away you will find Grasmere, one of the lakes' prettiest villages and home to Wordsworth's Dove Cottage.
